Dr. Johnson received a Bachelor of Science degree, Summa Cum Laude and valedictorian, from Birmingham-Southern College in 2005. He then a received a Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine, graduating Cum Laude. He went on to complete an ophthalmology residency in 2014 from the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
During his medical career, he has published dozens of scientific articles, commentaries, editorials, and book chapters. Dr. Johnson is active in many professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society for Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the Alabama Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Johnson practices general ophthalmology that includes comprehensive eye exams, glasses and contact lens fittings for both children and adults. His areas of specialty include cataract surgery, the management of glaucoma through the use of medications and lasers, and the management of diabetic retinopathy.
Dr. Johnson joined Tuscaloosa Ophthalmology in August of 2014 and lives with his family in Birmingham.
